Zenwood Bowls

There is no guarantee that any style of bowl will be available at any time.  If you have something in mind, please contact me.

Following are just a few samples of my bowls and platters.  Please remember that colour may not be exactly as shown because of differences in monitors.

Wood bowls are perfect with organic displays such as these beautiful squash.  (Squash from Lillooet Airport Gardens).

Cheese board "artist's palette".  This one is purpleheart with insets of other wood.  Also available, acrylic insets with a resin coating.

Sorry, sold.

Fresh off the lathe, photos don't do this one justice.  Maple burl with incredible grain, filled with red resin.  Approx. 14" x 4".  Stunning.

One side of the maple burl bowl above.

Mesquite bowl.  Yes, the same wood you might use in your BBQ.  This wood tends to crack, so there is a little red resin filler that looks beautiful with the wood color.  Some bark showing.  Approx. 12" x 3".

Maple burl in a funky shape that really shows a lot of the interesting burl patterning.  Approximately 9" x 3.5".

Shallow decorative piece that looks like a pond; cherry wood, filled with clear acrylic and a geode, with a little sparkle.  Approx. 8" x 2.5".

Large begging bowl.  Mesquite.  6.5" x 4"

Myrtle.  Lovely brown tones.  7.5" x 2".

Maple.  Lovely swirly grain.  11.5" x 5", suitable as a nice salad bowl.

A fairly large bowl of Magnolia.  Colours from light to dark with interesting splotches.  11.5" x 5".

Walnut. 10" x 2.5".

Walnut with gorgeous grain.  9.5" x 2".  A nice little display or fruit bowl.

Chestnut, a wood you don't see every day.  8" x 4".  Gorgeous grain.

SOLD.  Purpleheart bowl - one of the most red I have seen.  This wood gradually darkens to a rich brown with exposure to bright light.  It is a heavy, brittle wood that can be a challenge to work with.

I was fortunate to obtain some Cedar burls locally.  The photo doesn't do them justice; the grain is stunning and I have left the bark on the outside.  In the centre, mesquite, a very hard wood found in US.  Note the beautiful colouration.

Wood never goes out of style and harmonizes with any decor, from glass to wood.  Here, a variety of bowls for Christmas snacks and a platter for the cheese to be served later.

Almost all my bowls are food safe and are suitable for use as cheese or sandwich trays or traditional salad bowls.

This beautiful maple burl has been left with the natural bark.  Best as a display piece or for fruit.

Sorry, this one has gone to a new home.

Art in art.  This beautiful burl displays a pair of raku pears.
